About Us
Our Vision for Ponchatoula
Our desire for our church and community is to see lives transformed by the good life that only Jesus can give. In a world chasing temporary happiness, we believe there is a deeper, lasting joy found in knowing Christ.
We strive to be a church where people don’t just attend, but truly experience the love of Jesus, grow in faith, and walk alongside one another in meaningful relationships, living each day in the abundant life Jesus promises to those who trust in Him as their Lord and Savior.
What We Believe
-
The God of the Bible is the only true God, revealing Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)
-
The Bible is God’s inspired word and the source of our worldview. (2 Timothy 3:16)
-
Humanity is God's special creation, made in His image. Through the sin of the first man, mankind fell so that all are sinners in need of salvation. (Genesis 1:27; Romans 5:12)
-
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully man and fully divine. He came in the flesh to provide salvation through His life, death, and resurrection. (2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 1:3)
-
Jesus paid the penalty for our sin upon the cross, and salvation is only possible through faith in Him. Believers will spend eternity with God. (John 14:6; Ephesians 2:8)
-
All believers have direct access to God through Jesus Christ. (Hebrews 4:14-16)
-
Baptism by water is a symbolic representation of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. Baptism is a public testimony of having received Jesus as Savior and Lord. (Romans 6:3-4)
-
The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic memorialization of Christ’s death. All believers are invited to partake in the Lord’s Supper. (1 Corinthians 11:23-25)
-
First Baptist Church of Ponchatoula is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). The SBC is not a denomination, but, rather, a loose association of independent local churches that voluntarily unite together for the purposes of evangelism and missions. As part of the Southern Baptist Convention, the church subscribes to the statements made in the Baptist Faith and Message, 2000.
