In order to most effictively carry out Jesus' Great Commission to "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you," First Baptist Ponchatoula cooperates with other churches through:
A group of 90+ Southern Baptist churches and church missions located on the Northshore of Lake Ponchartrain in SE Louisiana. Northshore Baptist Association is a partnership of member Baptist churches organized for ministry, missions, fellowship, and the equipping of member churches in their local communities and throughout the world. The purpose of the NSBA is to assist member churches to glorify God by cooperating in Kingdom ministries to fulfill the Great Commission. The association values biblical authority, compassionate ministries, cooperation, excellence, healthy churches, kingdom growth, and prayer.
The LBC is a statewide association of nearly 1,800 Baptist churches connected through a common mission. The purpose of this Convention is to provide means through which Louisiana Baptist churches and members can cooperate in bringing persons to God throughout the world.
Since its organization in 1845 in Augusta, Georgia, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) has grown to over 16 million members who worship in more than 42,000 churches in the United States. Southern Baptists sponsor about 5,000 home missionaries serving the United States, Canada, Guam and the Caribbean, as well as sponsoring more than 5,000 foreign missionaries in 153 nations of the world.
The term "Southern Baptist Convention" refers to both the denomination and its annual meeting. Working through 1,200 local associations and 41 state conventions and fellowships, Southern Baptists share a common bond of basic Biblical beliefs and a commitment to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the entire world.
The Convention will assist churches and associations in the Christ-appointed tasks: to worship God, to proclaim the Gospel, to teach, to nurture Christians, to establish and strengthen churches, and to minister in Christ's name.
